I'm a girl from West Seattle who married a boy from Spokane, and together we are living our life with our sweet children, James and Juliet

We all survived my first week back at work. I had to return almost two months earlier than expected because I had used up all my FMLA leave working halftime the past two years (so my choice was to return after my child bearing leave or resign). I am still only working two and half days a week, but this might have been the longest week of my life. The lack of sleep from having a new baby compounded by the emotional toll of starting in a brand new position and worrying about how my whole family would transition, left me feeling completely emotionally drained. However, it was a million times easier returning this time around. And luckily, I really like my job and the people I work with, so it helps that I enjoy being there. I think I spent just as much time catching up with everyone as I did actually working. It is hard to kiss my little baby goodbye, but I know it gets easier and easier with time. And although I consider myself a mom first and foremost, I do appreciate getting to maintain a career that I like, am good at, and has a ton of holiday breaks!
