For Veterans Day we went to visit my grandmother at the Mount. They put on a special slide show with old war pictures of the residents and their families in uniforms. Watching the black and white photos of proud sailors and other military, listening to the old Dixie music, and looking at the survivors admiring their loved ones on the screen left me feeling a bit nostalgic. I take for granted how much we have, so it was reminder to be thankful for how blessed we are because of all the hard work of those before us. As my grandma called out, "Yay, Johnny boy!" when my grandfather's war picture came on the screen, I could not have felt more proud of my family, those who have served and those that still are.
