This might have been the best Easter ever. Of course all the holidays are filled with more magic because we get to live through them with Juliet, but this was the first holiday she really "got."
She loved meeting the Easter bunny on Saturday and later that evening when we told her that he was coming at night to bring her some presents and candy for her basket she got so excited. She kept pointing to the door and waving and when he did not come in she got a little upset.
For the first time I was actually a little excited to roll out of bed at 5:45 on Sunday morning because I couldn't wait to see Juliet's reaction to her basket and hidden eggs. The Easter bunny left her basket right next to her crib so she could see it when she woke, and hid a few candy filled eggs around her room. Juliet lit up as she took out her small gifts: a necklace and bracelet, some stickers for the windows, a felt flower, a stuffed Peter Rabbit and a couple of other little Easter things. She also got her first chocolate bunny and immediately went to unwrapping it and taking a bite out of its ears.
Later that evening at my mom's house, we had our fourth Easter hunt and she knew just what to do. This Easter really felt like Christmas around here, and not because of all the gifts, but because of the excitement and magic that believing brings. I hope it stays for a long while yet.
