Going from one child to two is like going from one to 100. Some days are easier than others, but I have learned that once we are out and about, life moves along pretty smoothly.
James is a great sleeper during the day and a few nights a week. Some nights he has three to four hour stretches, and some he is awake every hour. He still spits-up a lot, which requires a ton of energy devoted to changes and laundry, but he is healthy. We go through several outfits, bibs, and at least two swaddle blankets a day, but at least I am no longer having to change myself multiple times a day. James is much more cuddly than Juliet was, and likes to be held when he is awake. Luckily he snuggles right on into the baby carrier that I now wear everywhere. He also is a dedicated eater. Unlike Juliet who I had to wake to eat and undress to keep awake, James doesn't skip a meal or snack. I am still learning when he is hungry or just thinks he is hungry, but with time I know we will get it all figured out. He is already four weeks old and making me wish time would slow down just a bit.
There are moments when my patience is tried, my exhaustion catches up to me, and life's stresses seem too big, but at the end of the evening when both kids are tucked into bed and Brian and I are relaxing together in the living room, it is hard to imagine changing a thing. And I know I will look back on these days with a smile and the memories will warm my heart.
Ya know Mamma, the reason little lady is taking to her new brother so well is because she has such great parents who embrace this change in a very positive light. I love how you said going from 1 kid to 100 haha, it's SO TRUE!!!! Then before you know it you forget what it was like with just one. Time is flying!!
