Today Juliet is 16 months! In just a short month, she seems so much more like a little girl. As we sat and ate dinner last night and I watched her slowly take a sip from her open cup, I smiled at the thought of her less like the baby we knew and more of this sweet little girl.
She loves music and dancing and has now incorporated a few twirls into her moves. Puzzles are by far the most popular toys right now. Her favorite is this magnetic alphabet puzzle book with an object for each letter. We are constantly amazed watching her figure out where these little 26 pieces go as she flips the pages to find the objects home. This month we also have watched her imaginitive play grow and grow. We cook at our play kitchen, sip tea from teacups, and feed our lunch to our favorite characters from a few of our holiday cards. Juliet loves to sit on our lap and watch little videos of herself from my phone, and knows how to touch the screen to get them to start.
Juliet is more assertive now. When she wants to you to go somewhere in the house with her, she takes your hand and leads you in the direction she wants to go. We still have not heard a lot of vocabulary from her, but we do hear, "Miiii" (or mine) quite often. If we are playing together and she does not want us to touch a block or spoon, she puts the object to her face and whimpers, "Miiii" with a little pouty face and all. She has kept her calm demenour and is still very easy going. We have yet to see a temper tantrum. When we are out and about, she is quite the serious one, never lending a smile to a stranger, but at home her personality comes to life. Sleep is still quite unpredictable. Some days she goes right down and others not so much. I am hoping that with time, things will figure themselves out.
She is growing up right before our eyes and making our hearts swell more and more each day. Although I am happy knowing that she is not growing up too fast, and is just living in her perfect little world right now. There is never a day that goes by that I don't look at her in awe and sometimes I still can't believe she is ours.
