I'm a girl from West Seattle who married a boy from Spokane, and together we are living our life with our sweet children, James and Juliet

Juliet's birthday present finally arrived over the weekend and I was just ecstatic (to say the least) when the box showed up at our house! It seriously felt like Christmas for me (see timeline of kitchen crush below). Yes, the vintage kitchen is over three months late, but the blue color I wanted was on back order, and somehow I managed to hold out (and Juliet is still young enough that we can give her a birthday present months later without her caring). So here it is in all its glory! Of course Juliet just adores it and went to work opening and closing the doors and rearranging her food and dishes.

I really have done nothing with the playroom up until this point, and I am excited to finally be able to get started. The only other item I have at the moment is a set of vintage alphabet cards to hang along two of the walls, but I am waiting until after Christmas (when Santa brings her a play teepee) to arrange the room and get all the details figured out.

And let me just give you a little timeline of the drama/love over this kitchen.
  • Sometime last spring I fall in love with this kitchen
  • Come August (one month before J's birthday) it sells out.
  • Come September my sister finds one for me and I happily order it even though it won't ship to us until the end of September.
  • End of September comes and no kitchen. It is now due to ship end of October.
  • End of October comes and no kitchen. It is now due to ship end of November.
  • End of November nears and I call. It is due to ship the very next day and will arrive within a week!
  • Two weeks past and no kitchen.
  • Brian now calls and asks to speak with the manager. He tells B that he has no idea when the kitchen will be available and will most definitely not be before the end of the year.
  • I almost cry, but after a week I decide to throw in the towel, cancel the order for the blue one, and plan to order the pink one (which is in stock and ready to ship).
  • We wait a week to get a refund. I keep looking at the pink one telling myself everything is going to be OK. I just have to completely revamp my design plan for the playroom.
  • I log into Amazon to order the pink one and low and behold there is the blue vintage kitchen! I can't believe it. I madly click, click away, but tell myself not to get too excited.
  • Two days later it arrives and I am so in love!
