When I first looked at this photo I was floored. Where did my baby go?! While I realize that a one year old is still very much a baby (and in another year I am sure I will be looking back on these days thinking how small she was compared to the two's), I look at her now and see so much of a new little person emerging. Much has changed since her first birthday only a month ago. We see more independence, new interests, and of course new bahavior. I find myself just smiling while I watch her sit on the step and eat a snack or attempt to step and sit in her pushcart. It feels as though we are on the brink of something huge. As if these swift changes are only getting started. Everyone says it goes fast, but these days that seems like an understatement. And although I hear this comment frequently from families with older children, they rarely remind you how it only gets better and better.
