We celebrated the 4th at the beach house in Bremerton again and we could not have asked for a better holiday weekend! I wasn't sure how J would handle it all, but of course she loved every second of it.
First off was lunch on the deck.
Juliet showed Auntie Pauli how good she is at standing and sucking on a cup at the same time.
James and some of the boys got started lighting off some daytime fireworks. The kids always love chasing after the little parachute men.
Lots of time was spent lounging in the sun.
We collected rocks. One of Hudson's favorite activities.
There was a little expedition behind the house.
Gavin and Michael had the longest watergun fight in the history of waterguns.
More lounging and taking in the view of the sound.
This is possibly one of the most comfortable chairs ever. Why do I still not have one of these?
James and some of the boys hunted for clams.
We cuddled together (whether we wanted to or not).
Game time! The cribbage board was brought out of course.
This year we added scrabble to the mix.
After the delicious barbequed ribs and as the day began to wind down the fireworks and s'mores got fired up.
The house was pretty quiet the next morning since most people had to head back to work bright and early, but that gave J some time for her favorite activity: chasing Josie and the beach ball and climbing the bookcase. Did I mention how much J loves Charles, James and Kathleen's beach house?
It is a wonderful feeling knowing we are creating such a fun and memorable tradition for the 4th. I love thinking that in 5, 10, or 50 years we will be doing the same activities and enjoying every second of it. It is moments like these that make you feel truly blessed.
Happy 4th of July!
