I'm a girl from West Seattle who married a boy from Spokane, and together we are living our life with our sweet children, James and Juliet

toothbrush

Now that J has two of the most adorable teeth we busted out her first toothbrush. It was no surprise that she took to it like white on rice.

grandma

Grandma is here and J is having so much fun!

fun house

B took J to check out the fun house at Red Robin a few days ago. I have always hated those claw things because the machines are timed to get you all excited and then disappointed when your cute little stuffed animal doesn't make it out. Thankfully, J wasn't too into it because you know if she was that her daddy would have been all over it!

pearly whites

I finally got around to getting some pictures of our girl's first little teeth.

Saturday

We have been busy already today. I got going early to get the house ready for Grandma and Grandpa's arrival tomorrow. They are coming over to visit and give my mom a little break this week. We are excited because we haven't seen them since Christmas! While I was putting carpet lines in the carpet, B and J headed to the store to pick up some much needed batteries for her kitchenette.

What that might be in Brian's left hand? An umbrella! This is a never before seen moment! Brian hates umbrellas after almost loosing an eye several times from short girls scampering to class on the UW's campus, and as a result he refuses to use them. However, the clouds didn't look so great for his walk, so he took an umbrella!  I am so proud of him.

And our little love has been busy with her favorite new toy, her kitchenette. This morning I showed her how to pop the cheese in the oven for some brie and the cup in the microwave for some tea. I can't wait until we can have real tea parties! I used to love that when I was a little girl!

friday

Yesterday, Juliet and I took a nice, sunny walk to Linoln Park. We didn't go down to the beach and instead just walked the trail along the cliff. It is such a beautiful stroll especially when the sun is out!

We also ate our favorite book.

And played with our kitchen. This kitchen is a favorite in our house because it was the one and only item Brian picked out for the registry. And to think I almost didn't let him put in on there! Tragic!

solids round 30

We eat solids now!!! It happened over night and I owe it all to our friend, Mason. On Sunday Juliet watched Mason eat up two servings of carrots. She just sat and studied him eat and I think she figured she should give it a try. Sure enough that night she ate more in one serving than she has over the past six weeks! I am not sure what this says about my daughter and peer pressure, but I'll take it.

saturday

I don't have a favorite season, but I do love the start of each one. There is something about the excitment of what the next few months will bring: the changing landscape, clothes and activities just get me feeling good.  On Saturday we took advantage of our spring day and strolled up to the junction. We ended up trying out Wing Dome because they allowed us to bring a stroller right up to the table. J loved it because they had TVs in all direction and since we have don't have the TV on when she is awake, she was really diggin' March Madness. She is also really into eating her stroller right now.

spring hat

Juliet's spring hat arrived yesterday and we are in love! I ordered her hat from the Etsy seller bubblegirl again because she never disappoints.

And yes, it looks very similar to her winter one because I honestly just love it so much. The spring hat did not come with the flower, but the seller so sweetly added it for us.

easter basket

Someone's getting ready for Easter!

Last week when I was at Target I was thrilled to find Juliet's first Easter basket. I had fallen in love with one at Pottery Barn Kids, but the basket and liner bosted a price tag around $45. Ouch. The one we have now is similar and only cost $8! I also picked up some bunny ears (.99), some easter grass (.99) and a few adorable eggs ($7).  Now we are just patiently waiting for her Easter dress. (The seller wasn't kidding when she said her turn around time was 3 weeks plus shipping time, but it is well worth the wait.)

irish eyes are smiling

We had zero plans to celebrate St. Patrick's Day, but at the last minute B suggested we have something Irish for dinner. Well, the frozen pizza and salad I was about to whip up sounded pretty easy and tasty, but a Guinness was definitely doable (I try not to cook on Thursdays because it is the end of my work week, and it is nice to just take a break.) The sun was peaking out, so we popped J into the stroller and headed down to the grocery store. We picked up some Guinness and green mint ice cream because why not.

And here is my little leprechaun. I briefly looked for a cute St. Patty's Day outfit for J, but nothing impressed me. Maybe better luck next year. Luckily, she did have a green onesie to rock.

uppababy

Here is why I loove my stroller. We are using the big girl seat now and it is working out better than expected. On the way to the store I had J facing out, so as not to be blinded by the sun that was peaking out every so often.

Then on the way home I flipped her seat around, so the wind and sun were against her back.
Brilliant!

sick day

I took today off so I could take my little darling to her six month appointment. All went well and once again I left just loving Dr. E. She reassured me about J not eating solids and gave me some great tips for napping, eating, and overall health. And she is the cutest, sweetest, best dressing doctor I have ever met.

J weighs 17 pounds, 66th percentile. Her percentile in weight dropped again, but Dr. E said that is very common now because babies are moving around so much and so I am not to worry. And I am not : ) She is 27 inches long, 86th percentile and her head circumference is 43 cm, 82nd percentile.

After our appointment and nap, we headed out on a walk to the grocery store. Unfortunately, my little J was not her usual self this afternoon. I wouldn't be either if I was getting over my first cold, growing two teeth and dealing with 3 shots in my legs.

I tried to cheer her up by showing her signs of spring all around our neighborhood, but she wanted nothing to do with spring flowers.  : (

and we have teeth

My poor little baby has been fussy the past couple of days, which is very unusual. We attributed her behavior to a small cold she has been fighting off, but today when I felt her gums I could definitely feel some teeth poking through! I immediatley stuck a couple of wet washcloths and a teether in the freezer and she is loving sucking on the washcloths, which makes us happy.

irish dancing

This afternoon we took Juliet to the Center House to see some Irish Dancing. I didn't get any pictures of the cute little dancers, but they are there in the left hand corner of this photo (under the Irish flag). My mom and I so wished Pauli was with us because the dancers reminded us of her, but this was a last minute excursion. (Next year, Pauli, next year.) I just about cried when I first saw the dancers take the stage because I felt like I was a girl all over again watching Pauli perform on that same stage for St. Patty's Day. I think Pauli was the cutest little Irish dancer in all the land!

We broke out the big girl stroller seat for the first time. J approved.

We also got to use the rain guard attachment. It is awesome. Now if I just had some rain boots we would be all set!

red balloon

One of J's favorite toys of the moment is her red balloon from Gavin's birthday party.

blocks

J just loves her blocks!

kitchen

A pink or blue vintage kitchen. Yes, please. Bookmarking this for future reference.

birthday ritual

I love the idea of taking a picture of J in the same place on her birthday. As you know I already take a monthly photo of J in the same chair, but that is only for the first year so this idea is just perfect. Now I just have to decide where to take the photograph. What piece of furniture do I have that I plan on having for years and years to come? Hmm...

food update

Juliet is still not a fan of solids (luckily I have her six month appointment next week, so I will be chatting Dr. E's ear off once again), but she does approve of admiring and eating my birthday cards.

rack

I think Juliet likes the Jeff Lewis inspired wine rack more than I do.
