baby dresser

The first purchase for our little J was a dresser. We had this old Ikea dresser, but it was much too small and definitey not cute enough.

As you can see, these were some of the first few baby gifts we received. After a lot of convincing and promising, I convinced B to go to Ikea and buy a dresser. He is anti-Ikea, but how can you say no to your pregnant wife. So, off to Ikea we went and luckily, the dresser's quality past his test. Now the fun part.

When it was built it looked like this.

The hardware just wasn't working for me. I wanted something to girl it up or make it a little more sweet looking. After a quick trip to Target I found these.

Here is the first one. So much better!

And finally...

It is perfect. Now I just need to line the drawers, however that is proving to be much more challenging. I can't find anything local and all the cute wrapping paper online is soo expensive to ship, so I am still hunting. We also have some fun stuff for the wall above the dresser, but I can't hang anything yet until the drapes are up.

baby bump

Third trimester. I meant to post a couple weeks ago, but forgot. I was at the end of my 7th month during this photo shoot.

crib

The crib is almost ready! Now we just need a mattress.

After seeing Young House Love's drawer lining project, I wanted to add some fun to the bottom of the crib drawer. I went out and hunted down some cute wrapping paper, some modge podge (non-toxic glue), and a brush.

One side done and one side crappy looking. Boo. The sheet dried with a few little bubbles and wrinkles. I was not happy, so onto plan B. 30 minutes later I was back with double sided tape. I have no idea how long it will last, but knowing me I won't care because I will be sick of the print and ready for a different style!

Much better. Not a wrinkle or bubble in sight. Lesson learned for when I move onto the dresser's three drawers.

I loved how it turned out!  Plus, the print works in case baby number two is a boy.

hats

I think I just found another favorite Etsy seller. Kolon Beanie is ridiculously adorable. I'll take one of each, please.
