"Looks like a girl," said the nurse dryly (her bedside manner needed some serious work). We, however, couldn't be happier! The feeling was overwhelming and I couldn't help but cry-the tears were just a flowin (and I do not cry easily). All of a sudden this baby seemed more real than ever. What do we want for her? How do we want her life to unfold. Who will she become? What will make her smile? The feeling really was unexplainable. I just can't wait to meet our little Juliet, but for now she can stay safe and sound inside my stretching belly.

today is the day
Dear Baby D,
In just a few short hours we will get to see you on the ultrasound screen again and find out if you are a James or Juliet. We have waited for this day for what seems like forever and are beyond excited because it feels as if we are meeting you for the first time. We have been counting down the day and speculating who and what you will become. Will we be opening a door of trucks and footballs or a door of dolls and flowers? But whatever you may be, you can have all the trucks and dolls your little heart desires.
Love,
M and D

Ever since I found out that I was pregnant, I have spent more time looking at nursery products and pictures than I want to admit. Trying to find the perfect rocker/glider has proven to be a challenging task because there are so few attractive nursery chairs. You would think designers would have updated our options in the past few years! Come on people! However, I did find two chairs and I love everything but the price tag. Boo hiss. If I had an unlimited budget I would buy either the Nurseryworks Empire Rocker or the Monte Luca Rocker in a heartbeat. Don't they just make your heart skip a beat. If only...

sweet things
Baby D, these are your first baby presents. As you will come to find out, I do not like to save stuff. In fact I get a thrill out of purging. Goodwill and Craigslist are good friends of mine. Anyways, in case I do not save these sweet little items (as cute as they are) here are pictues of your first gifts from the Herzogs, Smiths (Donny/Megan), and Grandma! They bring a smile to my face everytime I see them because I think of you.

time to shop

We are getting closer and closer to purchasing some items for the nursery. I've spent hours looking online for the perfect set-up for our little bean. This dresser is my favorite. I'm not a fan of the hardware, so I'll be replacing them with some clear, glass pulls. Now I just need it to look as good in the store as it does online so that B will be on board. He really does not like Ikea products, but I'm feeling good that he will go for it when we see it next weekend.

our second photo

13 weeks
This is our latest picture from our second visit with the doctor back in February. Baby looks healthy and strong! The due date is now August 31.Only five more weeks until we can find out if the baby is a boy or girl! We are pretty set on James and Juliet. And no, those names having nothing to do with our favorite show, Lost. It is only a coincidence. I also like Camille and Caroline, but Juliet is definitely in first place. James is the only name we both really like and it is B's grandfather's name (and my favorite character from Lost). It was very sweet to see our baby resting so nicely. His/Her little legs were up and crossed at the ankles for the entire time. Let's hope he/she likes to chill like this come September!
